Name: Romeo
Age: 11
Breed: Registered 1/2 Arabian
Sex: Gelding
Temperment: Experienced Rider
UPDATE December 2009:  Romeo is a "lower" horse in our herd pecking order, and has worked on awareness of his handler when startled or pushed by other horses, which seems to be his only flaw at this point.  Romeo is smart enough to always keep an eye out for his surroundings, and has the speed and strength to make any move a grand one!  Many mile under saddle have shown that Romeo will continue to need an alert rider ready to continue work on yields, flexing and a one rein stop. Competitive riders, despite what sounds like a potentially difficult horse, Romeo is very sweet and willing......this may be super endurance or competitive trail prospect!
History: Beautiful with a smooth as silk flowing gait and the energy to go all day long. This boy is fast...but Romeo came to us very spoiled and fat from spending over 5 years grazing on rich pasture grass with very little handing.  He is a gentle giant when handled on the ground, has wonderful pasture manners, gets along with the other horses and loves to be groomed.  His only flaw is that when he's behind the pack, he has bucked several riders off.  Not much of a problem when he was too fat to put any effort into it, but now that he's down to a proper weight one of the two attempted bucks at RIDE felt like a freight train.  Romeo has worked with a trainer, and is making excellent progress.  Great on the trail, with animals, vehicles and obsticles.  Ridden bareback without issue on farm.  If you are interested in a bit of a challenge and learning how to handle this big love, give us a call.  In the meantime, RIDE volunteer trainers continue to work with this beautiful giant.
