HOMESuccess Stories

Most adoptive horses are current on shots and farrier care after placement in a foster setting. Some horses may be available directly from a relenquishing home and have a ADOPTIVE home awaiting prior to placement, shots and hoof care. These animals may not have current cares, but carry only an adoption application processing fee for placement in a pre-approved waiting list home.

Adoption Fees

At RIDE, we know the true cost of a horse is the lifetime of care, and that the value of an horse is in the eyes of the market. We prefer to let the folks selling horses make a buck off their efforts. We simply want to help find GOOD homes for horses in need!  Each horse, and each horses story is unique and thus, the adoption fees are different for each horse.  No one involved with RIDE makes money off their efforts and most of our travel and other volunteer services are donated. This helps us keep our prices LOW so that we can keep horses moving through the program and on to new homes.

See our Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.

Your donation is so much appreciated!

Adoption Process:

  1. Meet the horse and it's foster family.
  2. File an Adoption Application with $10 fee.
  3. RIDE completes a reference check (vet, farrier, humane society,etc.).
  4. RIDE completes a site check.
  5. Sign the adoption contract and pay suggested donation (if applicable).

No farmsite or stable is perfect. RIDE looks for adoptive homes with the basics in safe horse care standards including shelter, good quality hay, and horse friendly fencing. Our adoption application is long, but helps to ensure that our horses go to appropriate homes, and that we understand the needs and plans of the adoptive family.
